s I write this, Florence and I are preparing for a road trip to California to visit family. As you read this, we will be on the road back to Bothell.  That’s how fast the time goes.

I have often wondered why it is that time seems to go faster as one gets older. Someone recently offered me a theory on that however I cannot recall that idea at the moment.

Moments of time seem more precious to me now than they used to, I suppose because they seem to pass so quickly. For example, a lunch with one of our daughters, or time alone with Florence, these brief moments of time are extremely valuable to me now. Perhaps this is all because I realize that there is less of life ahead of me than behind me. It’s simply a matter of age.

I believe God gave us time to use wisely. On Father’s Day I remembered the time my Dad spent with me. I recalled simple things, like playing catch in the park, and going to baseball games. My Dad taught me many things, but it is the time I remember most.

This summer, if you are able, take some time with your loved ones, and take some time for rest and renewal for yourself. Time is a gift from God.

Peace,
