ransitions are a natural part of life. Birth, marriage, and death are all part
of life transitions. Job changes also fall into this category. This summer has
brought many church staff changes to Emmanuel.
It is a time to
celebrate our history, to understand where we are at present, and to envision
the future.
There is of course some
sadness when we say goodbye to friends who have served Christ through Emmanuel.
There is also gratitude for all they have generously shared with us in the name
of Christ.
We say farewell to Lee &
Sydney Rozen as they move to Moscow, Idaho, to begin a new life. Lee has been
hired as the managing editor of the
, and he began his work there on June 28.
From all we hear, Lee is loving his new job. The paper there is fortunate to
have him.
As I write this, Sydney
is in her last official week with us as Director of Christian Education, and she
is directing another fun-filled adventure with Vacation Bible School. We say a
huge thank you to both Sydney and Lee for their many years of dedicated
Christian leadership with Emmanuel Presbyterian. We will deeply miss them.
Liz Meyers has departed
the position of Music Director at Emmanuel. After several years of energetic and
creative leadership with the choir and other events, Liz needs more family time.
Her enthusiasm for music and serving the Lord has been admirable, and we say a
big thank you to her for sharing her gifts so generously with the people of God
here. Both Liz and Steve Meyers continue as active members at Emmanuel, so we
are glad to be able to continue Christian service with both of them.
Stephen Panther has left
the position of worship accompanist with us after a short time. Stephen shared
his musical gifts with Emmanuel in a creative and heart-filled way, and we wish
him well as he moves on to other fields of ministry. We thank Stephen for giving
us fine leadership in music.
Much of life is saying
hello and goodbye. For us at Emmanuel, this is a time to say some farewells, and
offer our thanks, as we transition into the future. The Personnel Committee is
prayerfully seeking direction from God as we look toward the future. As
Christians we are always people with hope. Pray that God guides us as we seek
leadership in Christian ministry.
