TENT CITY 4
Joe and Kay
Dechenne
December has
been a busy month for our Tent City 4 mission outreach. Last month,
as reported, youth from our congregation visited Tent City 4 with
donations of hats/caps, scarves, mittens and gloves. While there,
they served the residents hot cocoa and cookies.
On December
22, Joe and Kay Dechenne brought donations of clothing, tissue and
miscellaneous food items. At that time, Joe Dechenne presented the
camp leader, Bruce, with a check from the youth group mission fund.
On December
26, another delivery was made. It consisted of food items donated
through the “Good Neighbors Program” which distributes surplus food
to low-income and the needy. Besides all the post-Christmas treats,
the items included bagels, breads and muffins.
This year a
Christmas tree was donated. Its presence helped to spread the good
tidings to even the most lonely and destitute resident. A generous
and welcome donation of a washer and dryer was gratefully received
by the residents. For many, these gestures from the community helped
make the holidays more hopeful and bright.
A NEW ORDER of
coffee and tea is in. All your favorites are back in stock. They
will be for sale both before and after worship each Sunday until gone.
Coffee is $7.65 a 12 oz. bag (a bargain since Fred Meyers sells the
exact same thing for $10.69 and keeps the profit) and tea $3.50 a 12 bag
box. Remember that each bag of coffee nets the Mission Committee $2 per
bag of coffee and $1 for each box of tea! Please have correct change or
make a check payable
to: Emmanuel
Presbyterian Church with a Memo: mission coffee project.
